Delhi University is planning to prepare a paper on women’s safety as part of its foundational course under the four-year undergraduate programme.

According to officials, the paper will come under ‘governance and citizenship’ and will include laws, gender discourse and other necessary information on women’s safety.

“Delhi has been in the news over atrocities on women. We thought that a paper on women’s safety is a must. We want our women students to feel safe inside and outside the campus and an attempt to educate students on women studies will be an effective way,” said a member involved in designing foundational courses.

The official said  DU has formed a committee to prepare a paper on the subject.
“We have asked all colleges to give inputs regarding facilities provided to women students in the campus to make them feel safe. The paper will also teach how to file an FIR or a RTI application,” he added.
