Original and peppy tunes leave a mark

Music Launch

While most film-makers prefer to launch the audio CD of their movies at a fancy hotel with celebrity chief guests followed by an extravagant dinner, the cast of ‘Tony’ took a different route and launched their album at a mobile network store.

A very low-key affair, the launch saw the cast and crew release the album, distribute the CDs among the customers at the store and pose for pictures with their fans.

Pegged as one of the most awaited films of the year, ‘Tony’ is a story of a person who wants to get rich overnight.

Playing the lead role is actor Srinagara Kitty.  “This is one movie that I have been waiting for. Especially since I play a very modern character and people can see a different side of me,” explains Kitty.

The bubbly actress Aindrita Ray is paired opposite Kitty for the first time.

Equally excited about her role, she says that the movie has a very interesting subject.
“I am playing the role of a very homely girl, who has a soft spot for her love. It may sound cliched if I say this is a different movie. It would be better if the movie does the talking,” she adds.

As for the music, Sadhu Kokila has composed the tunes for this Jaya Tirtha
directorial.

The album has five songs and singer-composer Raghu Dixit, Harikrishna, Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghosal have lent their voices.

Sadu Kokila has also used a lot of folk tunes to the soundtrack. “I have kept all the tunes original and peppy,” says Sadhu Kokila.

Another highlight of the film is the title track, which has been sung by Puneeth
Rajkumar.

The music director adds, “This is the first time Puneeth has sung for me. His father Dr Rajkumar has sung many songs for me before and it was great pleasure to have
his son do the same.”

Aindrita says apart from the songs being melodious, the picturisation of the
songs too are great.

“There is one song which has been completely shot in a black and white format with just red standing out on the screen,” she describes.

One wonders what made the team chose a mobile network store to launch the audio.

Kitty answers, “Networking and communication are the focal themes of the movie
and this particular network is associated with the film.

So we thought it would be a great way to meet and greet our fans and release the tunes with their support.”
