Global coffee exports up  7%, says ICO

A 30 per cent rise in exports from Africa and significant increase from Vietnam and Indonesia saw global coffee exports rise 7 per cent to 56.1 million bags during the first six months (October 2012-March 2013) of the current coffee year, according to the International Coffee Organisation (ICO).

The comparable figure during the previous period (October 2011-March 2012) was 52.41 million bags. While exports from Vietnam registered 9.5 per cent growth at 12.4 million bags, Indonesian exports spurted 71.4 per cent to 5.2 million bags. Exports from India marginally declined to 2.5 million bags.

The current half year’s export figure is an all-time high. Exports from Brazil were  marginally up 0.8 per cent at 16 million bags in the six months of coffee year 2012-13.
