"During the course of making of the film, I realised that my apprehensions were unfounded. Everybody has certain impressions about the other person even before knowing or meeting him and I realised this," Aamir said at the unveiling of the first look of '3 Idiots' here.
Inspired by Chetan Bhagat's novel 'Five Point Someone', the films has been directed by  Rajkumar Hirani of 'Munnabhai' fame.
Hirani and Producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra were also present on the occasion.
Aamir said when Hirani approached him with the role, he wondered if he could "tolerate" Chopra.
"I had no problems with Hirani and was eager to work with him. In fact,I was dying to work with Hirani after Lage Raho Munnabhai", the 44-year-old actor said.
"He (Hirani) was the first to tell me that he would not work with him. We were planning a film and one day he came and told me that he had changed his mind and was doing Munnabhai 2," the actor recalled.
Aamir said he had not read the book 'Five Point Someone' by Chetan Bhagat on which the film is based.
"I just read the script and liked it," Aamir said.
Apart from Aamir, the film stars Sharman Joshi, R Madhavan who plays IIT students while Kareena Kapoor essays the character of a medical student.

Hirani said the film portrays that anybody who is a non-conformist is an idiot.
When asked if he has adopted the novel in its entirity or made deviations, the filmmaker said, "Wait till December 25."
Hirani plans to make 'Munnabhai Chale Amrika', the third film in the Munnabhai series next year.
"The script and the cast is ready," he said.
Producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra said that he shared a level of comfort with Raju Hirani.
"After meeting Aamir, I realised that I was saner. Aamir was more crazier than me. I never felt I was working with a star," he said.
Aamir declined to respond to queries on whether he had met Oscar winning director Danny Boyle who is currently in Mumbai.
