JOIN USKevin ML and Sarayu Vyakaranam clinched the under-15 boys’ and girls’ singles titles of the Devanahalli 3-Star State-ranking badminton tournament on Sunday.
Top seed Kevin put it past second seed Nikhit Laxman 21-16, 21-18 in the boys’ final while Sarayu registered a come-from-behind 17-21, 21-13, 21-19 victory over fifth seed Drithi Yatheesh in the girls’ summit clash.
Earlier, Kevin had beaten fourth seed Abi Amudhan S 11-21, 21-14, 23-21 in a hard-fought semifinal and Nikhit struggled before defeating third seed Nikhilshyam Sriram in the second semifinal.
In the girls’ semifinals, Drithi upset top seed Reenu Tirumal 19-21, 21-15, 21-14 while Sarayu breezed to a 21-7, 21-10 win over sixth seed Sheetal Sudarshan.
Meanwhile, top ranked Kartik Vyakaranam claimed the under-13 boys’ singles crown beating sixth seed Rohit Krishna 19-21, 21-10, 21-14 while Drithi Yatheesh stunned top seed Shivani A Pathi 15-21, 22-20, 21-14 in the girls’ final.
