MCC opposes CDP prepared by MUDA

 

“The details of the CDP was not brought to the notice of the members. Government’s notification has also not reached us. Before gezette notification, Town Planning officers have already started threatening the people to pay license fee as per the new CDP by holding a photostat copy,” said Corporator Naveenchandra.

Supporting his view, Mariamma Thomas said if the CDP is implemented, then poor people with five cents land can not construct a house. Mayor Shanker Bhat said CDP is being prepared by MUDA. MCC can not bring in changes to it.

Opposition member Shashidhar said “MUDA might have prepared CDP. However, it is MCC which provides building certificate before the construction of any building. He urged MCC Commissioner to give clarification.  Opposition leader Harinath said Congress will stage protest if the CDP is implemented as it is. “A detailed discussion on CDP is need of the hour. A discussion will be held with MUDA Commissioner and President at the earliest,” said MCC Commissioner Dr K N Vijayaprakash.

No fund release

Shashidhar said the budget had earmarked Rs 15 lakh grant to each corporator. However, even after nine months of the approval of budget, no development works have been udnertaken in MCC wards. When officials were asked, the reply received was lack of funds. If there are shortage of funds, then it must have been shown in the budget.”

The Mayor urged the members to give a list of works to be undertaken in the wards to the officials. The funds will be released by November 24, he assured.
Harish said no space has been left for the construction of footpaths in the proposed road which will be laid in association with MRPL at an estimated cost of Rs 30 crore.
Jayanthi Shetty said nearly 45 families from SC are losing their house due to the widening of Nanthur-Bikarnakatte road.

Mayors meet

Mayors from across the country will meet on October 4 and 5 to discuss on the amendment to Article 74 of the Constitution.

Suspended

Accounts Superintendent Sulochana was suspended for failing to submit accounts on time, said MCC Commissioner.
