JOIN USThe National Law School, Bangalore is the popular choice among the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2013 toppers. Faculty, infrastructure and the placement records in the past, are attracting the top rank holders to the law school in the City.
There are as many as 14 law schools in the country. The results of CLAT for both postgraduate (PG) and under-graduate (UG) courses were announced on Friday. Of the 30,000 appeared for UG exam, 27,627 ranks were announced and about 1,400 candidates had applied for the PG exam. The law admission test was held on May 12, 2013 and about 1,080 had enrolled for the exam from the City.
The top three rank holders of the admission test this year, will all be the first lawyers in their families and all of them aspire for a seat in the City’s National Law School.
Dhruv Murari Gandhi, a student of KC College, Church Gate, Mumbai, has secured the all India first rank in CLAT 2013. Of the total 200 marks — for which the test was conducted — Gandhi has secured an overall score of 161.75. Dhruv's father is a businessman and mother, a homemaker. “There are no lawyers in the family. After class 10, I was inspired to study law. I stuck with it, thereafter,” Dhruv said.
The second rank holder, Ipshita Bhuwania, who scored 159.25, hails from Kolkata. Though a science student at Modern High School, Kolkata, Ipshita opted for law as she is interested in current affairs and logical reasoning. Shubham Jain from Faridabad in Haryana, secured third rank by scoring 159 out of 200.
“I was preparing for the Common Proficiency Test. The syllabus included a section of law in it. I was so fascinated by it that I began preparing for the law exam,” said the student who has also secured 8th rank in the Common Proficiency Test. He passed from class 12 last year, after which he started preparing for the CA exam. His father is an insurance agent while mother is a homemaker. The candidates will be given the allotment list on June 2.
City student bags 52nd rank
A student from Mount Carmel College in the City has secured a high score in the test achieving 141.5 out of the total 200 marks. Rachna Jagdish Chhabria has ranked 52 in the entrance test. Like the other toppers, Rachna too aspires to get into National Law School Bangalore. Rachna said she had decided right after class 10 that she would pursue a career in law. ity student bags 52nd rank
