HDK puts party workers on LS poll mode

Last Updated 03 June 2013, 19:04 IST

JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy on Monday asked the party workers not to lose heart due to the party's defeat in the recent Assembly elections. He exhorted them to prepare for the Lok Sabha elections which is likely to be held early next year.

Addressing the party workers at ‘chintana manthana’ programme organised at Palace Grounds, he said the JD(S) can easily win 10 to 12 seats in the Parliamentary elections, if the recent Assembly election results are anything to go by. “The Lok Sabha polls will be ‘agniparikshe’ for the party. Preparations for it should begin from today,” he stated.

Party national president H D Deve Gowda will convene a meeting of all district unit presidents shortly, and give them each advices on preparing for the LS elections, considering the situations in their respective districts. The party needs to analyse the Assembly elections results and find out reasons for the defeat. This apart, there is a need for the workers to identify themselves with people's problems and strive to help them out. Unless the local workers develop emotional bondage with people, it is difficult to win their hearts, Kumaraswamy said.

'Expose misdeeds'

Besides, the JD(S) leader called upon the party leaders, especially the MLAs and former ministers, to keep a close watch on the functioning of the government and expose misdeeds, if any. All legislators should actively participate in the session and should come prepared for the debate, he added.
