Intl music course

KM Music Conservatory, Chennai announces admissions to its two full-time programs, the foundation programme and the diploma programme. The Foundation Programme is a one year long comprehensive training in music that offers a certificate validated by Middlesex University, London.

The syllabus includes western performance, composition, technology, Music theory, aural skills, music history, hindustani classical music and professional musical skills. Talent reward exam

Students preparing for next year’s JEE examination will get an opportunity to gauge their level of preparedness and standing as India’s premier institute for engineering entrance training FIITJEE conducts its talent reward exam (FTRE) on June 9.  Based on their performance students will get to know their Rank Potential Index (RPI) for JEE (advanced), which will help them know their chances of success in securing a seat in the IITs and bridge the gap in their preparation for JEE 2014. Based on their performance students will also get suggestions to plug loopholes to enable them better their conceptual understanding and analytical ability.

 The top 500 meritorious students will get a certificate of achievement and free online doubt removal support. They will also receive cash scholarships, tuition fee waiver for FIITJEE Program as well as hostel fee waiver on the basis of their performance.  All students appearing for the talent reward exam will also be entitled to a workshop on science of success in JEE (advanced) conducted under expert guidance at select cities. MoU on PhD programme

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) and Avinashilingam Institute for home science and higher education for women, Coimbatore on May 28, 2013 at New Delhi. This MoU aims at providing an opportunity to the women chartered accountants to pursue the PhD programme in full time / part time mode. As on date, ICAI has more than 2 lakh members, of which, 20% are women. There are more than one million students pursuing CA Course of which about one third students are women. And this is the 97th University / IIMs / Institution and the first Women’s Institute which has recognised Chartered Accountancy qualification for pursuing the PhD Programme.

Vocational diploma

Suwarna Nagaraju Educational Trust, Bangalore, is conducting ITI vocational training courses, affiliated to NCVT, Government of India and recognized by Government of Karnataka and diploma courses, affiliated to KSOU, Mysore. The ITI courses conducted are tool and die making, electronic mechanic, fitter, turner, welder, information technology and electronics system maintenance, data entry operator, secretarial practice, stenography, etc.

And the diploma courses are mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electrical and electronics engineering, telecommunication engineering, computer engineering and automobile engineering.

Poor and meritorious students will be given free seats. Those who have passed or failed in SSLC or PUC are eligible to apply. Women candidates will be given preference. Age limit for joining is 15 to 40 years.

Counselling course

Workshop on reading

British Library is organizing a workshop on fundamental reading skills on June 9, 2013 (Sunday). The workshop will be conducted by Rani Rao Innes at the library conference hall from 11 am - 3 pm. The target group is children of 6 - 9 years of age. There are only 25 seats available and registrations are strictly on first-come first-serve basis with a fee of Rs 800 for members and Rs 1000 for non-members.
In this interactive workshop, children will have fun with reading games and activities, identify skills for different types of reading, understand the attributes of a good reader, learn to appreciate and analyse a classic novel, read and analyse a poem, and attempt at writing a story or poem.

Skill training for children

BigThinkers, an organization conducting various life skill programs for children, has announced the start of its new batch from June 8, 2013 at Tara Early Learning Center, Indiranagar. These are non-academic personal growth sessions aimed at helping children cope with the needs of a demanding environment, developing a positive mindset, a healthy self image, better communication, interpersonal and social skills. The regular classes, workshops, camps, etc are an interesting combination of activities, games, stories, craft, field trips and more to ensure that kids have fun while developing leadership skills at the right age. The program is aimed at children between 6 to 10 years of age and the sessions are conducted on saturdays from 10 am to 1pm. Each module of the year long program will be for 2 months. MoU on exchange programs

Manav Rachna International University (MRIU) has recently signed an MoU with Tsukuba University, Japan. Apart from the regular faculty and students exchange programs, this agreement would allow both the universities to undertake collaborative researches and exchange information, publications and related study materials for sports physiotherapy, nutrition and dietetics, health and sport sciences.  
The special agreement between an Indian and Japanese university is first of its kind that gives a provision for faculty exchanges in addition to the yearly student exchange programs. A selection procedure is followed to shortlist candidates suitable for the students exchange program. Tsukuba University will provide the scholarship to the Selected students.

Diploma in counselling

ELT course

The Regional Institute of English South India (RIESI), Bangalore offers a one year Post Graduate Diploma in English Language Teaching (PGDELT) programme through the distance mode for those who have completed their graduation. The course consists of six modules: Listening and Speaking, Reading, Writing, Language Work, Methods and Materials in English Language Teaching and Teacher Development. There will be two contact programmes: one in the month of October for three days and the other in April/May for 20 working days which includes the final examination.

Course participants are required to engage themselves in supervised and assessed practice teaching when they attend the final contact programme. KIIT tie-up with Spain varsity

KIIT Group of Colleges  recently collaborated with Catholic University, San Antonio, Spain. The main objectives of this collaboration is to enable common programme development, department to department mentoring, curriculum building, course enhancement and up gradation of teaching pedagogies, common research programmes and industry linkages and long and short term student and faculty exchange.

The subjects or areas of collaboration would include Artificial Intelligence / Intelligent Transport System, Human–Machine Communications, VLSI Design / embedded system design, Power / Energy efficient systems, Green Technologies and carbon footprint, Mitigation measures for hazardous effects of Mobile Communications, Exchange / Share of Materials and expertise on Research in Teacher Education, Management studies at graduate / undergraduate level.

Galgotia varsity’s MoU with UK varsity

Galgotias University, Greater Noida and Anglia Ruskin University, UK have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Under this arrangement students will study three years of the B Tech Civil Engineering programme at Galgotias University and transfer to the third year of a B Eng Civil Engineering at Anglia Ruskin University in the UK.

On successful completion of the third year, Anglia Ruskin University will award them a B Eng Civil Engineering which will give them an  Incorporated Engineer status with the Institution of Civil Engineers – the association which qualifies professionals engaged in civil engineering.
