Rains play hide and seek in Kodagu district

Kodagu district received mild rains on Thursday. Though cloudy atmosphere prevailed throughout the day and people anticipated a heavy rain, it only drizzled every now and then.

Apart from Madikeri city, areas like Ponnampet, Bhagamandala, Napoklu, Shanthalli, Srimangala, Kutta too received average rains on Thursday. The district has recorded an average 228.62 mm rain since January.

The district had received 207.70 mm rain during the same period last year. Kodagu received an average 1.27 mm rain on Thursday. Madikeri taluk received 3.10 mm rain on Thursday, while it has recorded 313.99 mm rain from January to June. Virajpet taluk recorded 0.70 mm on Thursday.

Hobliwise rain fall details of Thursday is as follows: Madikeri Kasaba - 0.40 mm, Napoklu - 0.40 mm, Sampaje - 4 mm, Bhagamandala - 7.60 mm, Virajpet Kasaba - 4.20 mm.

The water-level at Harangi reservoir on Thursday 2801.14 ft as against the maximum level of 2858 ft. The water-level at the reservoir on the same day last year was 2805.81 ft. The water inflow on Thursday was 90.00 cusecs, while it was 15.00 cusecs on the same day last year.

With the monsoon making its early entry, agricultural activities too have resumed the pace in Kushalnagar, Somwarpet, Shanivarsanthe and other regions.
