Rotary House felicitates GSS

Legends who were quintessential part in the struggle for the formation of the State were remembered on Sunday. Litterateur Dr G S Shivarudrappa is one such name, which stands out in the field of literature.

At the Rotary House of Friendship, a felicitation ceremony was held in honour of Rashtrakavi Dr G S Shivarudrappa. “I accept this award on behalf of the Kannada poets, who in turn represent the Kannada language and our culture,” said Shivarudrappa. Poet Shivarudrappa attributed the stunted growth of Kannada language, though having a history of over 1,500 years, to the migratory nature of the population that resides in the State.
“Population, who are continually moving have not been able to learn and contribute to the growth and development of the language,” said Shivarudrappa.

Anointed as the Rashtrakavi after Kuvempu, Shivarudrappa has been a noted literary figure and has been felicitated with numerous awards, for his contribution the language.
