The Vijaynagar police have identified the youth, who was hacked to death recently, as Raghu alias Mental Raghu, 30.
A rowdy-sheeter with Upparpet police, he was involved in more than 10 criminal cases, including murders, police said.
A native of Hassan, Raghu would spend time at night in the central bus stand, railway station or some such place in and around Majestic area.
Old rivalry suspected
The motive behind the murder still remains unknown, but the police suspect old rivalry. The night patrol police were alerted about an injured youth lying abandoned in front of J J Apartment close to Vijayanagar mosque on June 5. Police shifted him to a nearby hospital, but he was dead by then.
