Brother-in-law arrested for realtor's murder

 Peenya Police, on Saturday, claimed to have cracked the murder case of Gangaraju, a 32-year-old realtor.

They have arrested Balu, 27, brother-in-law of the deceased, Shankar, 36, and Prabhu, 38, all residents of T Dasarahalli, in this connection, and recovered the iron rods used for the murder.

Police said Balu had married Bhagya, Gangaraju’s sister, a year ago, against his wish. But Balu, a chronic alcoholic, allegedly harassed his wife. Gangaraju recently had a heated argument with him over the issue.  On Wednesday night, when Gangaraju was speaking over his cellphone in Coconut Garden area, Balu, Shankar and Prabhu came in an autorickshaw, struck him on his head with an iron rod and fled as he collapsed.

Two thieves held

Two constables attached to Peenya police station, on patrol duty, chased a car and recovered cable wires and more than Rs 1 lakh in cash from the two occupants who had assaulted and robbed the cash from a man. The two constables came across Narasimhamurthy who was kidnapped, assaulted and robbed. They then chased the car in their two-wheeler and apprehended the two miscreants, who had robbed the man a couple of hours ago at knife- point.

The arrested are Girish V, 29, of Bagalagunte and Avinash, 22, of Rajajinagar.
Narasimhamurthi, works for a mobile phone company as cable fixer.

He had been to Mangalore on work and returned to the City on Friday morning. After alighting at Jalahalli Cross, along with two bundles of the cable wire at around 6 am, he was having tea at a nearby teastall, when four men approached him and dragged him into the car and drove away.

They took him near Patidar Samaja on Hesarghatta Main Road, assaulted him with a stone and robbed him of two bundles of cables worth Rs one lakh and Rs 6,500 cash. They had then pushed him from the moving car and drove away. While recovering from the incident, he stopped two police constables on their rounds, who immediately chased the car and nabbed the miscreants. However, two others escaped during the operation. A manhunt has been launched to nab them.
