'Govt will speed up Yettinahole project'

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday said the tender process for the Yettinahole project to provide drinking water to Bangalore Rural, Kolar and Chikkaballapur districts will be taken up shortly.

The chief minister said he has directed the Water Resources department to quickly finalise all the preparations for the project and take up the tender process at the earliest. He was speaking after participating in a function organised to lay the foundation stone for the ESI hospital here.

This year, drinking water problem has aggravated in many parts of the State. The previous BJP government failed to take any precautionary step to address the problem. Had the previous government taken enough steps, the situation would not have been so bad, he added.
