JOIN USJiah's boyfriend arrested for abetting suicide
Actor couple-Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab’s son Suraj was taken into custody late on Monday in connection with his ex-girlfriend and actor Jiah Khan’s suicide.
The 25-year-old actress who hanged herself last week at her residence in Juhu, apparently left a note blaming her boyfriend Suraj, who is expected to make a debut in a remake of a Hindi film “Hero”, for her drastic step.
Though throughout the day police officials were tight-lipped about the possible arrest of Suraj as well as his father Aditya for “causing mental trauma and physical and mental abuse”, late in the night police announced that Suraj had been arrested under IPC Section 306. dealing with “abetment of suicide”.
On Sunday, Jiah’s mother and sister told local media that they had found a note addressed to Suraj in which the actress, apart from mentioning “mental and physical abuse at the hands of her boyfriend”, also revealed the torment she underwent after aborting her baby with Suraj.
The note has been handed over to the police, which in turn has been forwarded to hand-writing experts to ascertain the veracity and establish its identity of the writer. The five-page note plaintively states: “When I first met you (Suraj), I was driven, ambitious and disciplined. Then I fell for you, a love I thought would bring out the best in me. I don’t know why destiny brought us together. After all the pain, the rape, the abuse, the torture I have seen previously, I didn’t deserve this.”
“I don’t know how to say this to you but I might as well now as I have nothing to lose. I’ve already lost everything. If you’re reading this, I might have already left or be about to leave. I am broken inside.”
The letter also mentions of abortion she underwent, stating: “It didn’t matter how many gifts I gave you or how beautiful I looked for you. I was scared of getting pregnant but I gave myself completely...pain you have caused me everyday has destroyed every bit of me...destroyed my soul...All you want in life is partying, your women and your selfish motives.”
Jiah’s mother on Monday, while talking to the media here, charged both Suraj and his father Aditya Pancholi for driving her daughter over the edge. She also rubbished rumours that her daughter was depressed over her film career not taking off satisfactorily.
