Section of Cong favours snap poll

A section of Congress leaders, finding it difficult to defend the scam-hit United Progressive Alliance, wants to exploit the internal war in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) by dissolving the Lok Sabha and going for early elections.

These leaders think that the opposition party will not be able to face a snap poll now due to its internal squabbling.

The Congress leaders have been wary of projecting their vice-president Rahul Gandhi as a prime ministerial candidate for the Lok Sabha elections next year.

They favour elections, right after the monsoon session of Parliament, to cash in on the rift in the opposition camp.
