Police on Wednesday claimed that graphologists have confirmed that the “suicide note” discovered three days after actor Jiah Khan committed suicide  was indeed written by her.

Suraj Pancholi, son of actor couple Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab, was taken into custody on Monday night, after Jiah Khan’s mother accused Suraj of subjecting her daughter to physical and mental abuse.

The discovery of the handwritten six-page-long “suicide note” replete with Jiah’s confessions of physical abuse, rape, abortion and the mental trauma that she underwent in her relationship with Suraj, sparked a furore.

The six-page letter plaintively states: “When I first met you (Suraj), I was driven, ambitious and disciplined. Then I fell for you, a love I thought would bring out the best in me. I don’t know why destiny brought us together. After all the pain, the rape, the abuse and the torture, I have seen previously, I didn't deserve this.”

It goes on to add: “I don’t know how to say this to you but I might as well now, as I have nothing to lose. I’ve already lost everything. If you’re reading this I might have already left or I am about to leave. I am broken inside.”

The letter also mentions the abortion she underwent.

It states: “It didn’t matter how many gifts I gave you or how beautiful I looked for you. I was scared of getting pregnant but I gave myself completely...pain you have caused me everyday has destroyed every bit of me...destroyed my soul...All you want in life is partying, your women and your selfish motives.”

The police subsequently detained Suraj and got custody of him from the court under Section 306 (abetment of suicide) of the Indian Penal Code.

The “suicide note” was sent to handwriting experts, along with love letters exchanged between Jiah and Suraj.

Graphologists, after examining the two sets, told investigating officials that the writer of the “suicide letter” was Jiah herself.

Meanwhile, Suraj has reportedly confessed that he and Jiah had been in a “live-in relationship.”
