Their love story began way back in 2004 when she was a class 12 student and her lover, a primary school teacher. Despite opposition from their respective families as the two belonged to different castes, they entered into wedlock a year later.

The couple had two children also. Everything was alright until the 2012 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.

Luxmi Gautam secured a nomination from the Samajwadi Party (SP) for Chandausi assembly seat in Moradabad district and she managed to win. Her husband Dilip Gautam helped her in all possible way to ensure her victory.

According to Dilip, his wife’s attitude began to change after she became a legislator.

She was now powerful and many influential people surround her all the time for different work. “Our relation touched its nadir three months ago when Luxmi shifted to Moradabad town and started living separately,” Dilip claimed.

Despite all attempts by Dilip, she refused to live with him.

“I am now being humiliated by her. Her gunman roughed me up on several occasions when I tried to meet her. She is not allowing my children to meet me,” he alleged.

Dilip stood outside Luxmi's house in Moradabad throughout Wednesday night in a bid to meet her. But to no avail. Even the police, he claimed, refused to help him.

“I helped her to complete her graduation and allowed to contest the polls. Now she has ditched me,” Dilip said claiming that ‘some other person may have entered her life’.

Luxmi on the other hand blames her husband for everything.

“He does not want me to meet the people of my constituency. Being an MLA I have to meet so many people,” she said and also accused her husband of beating her.
The matter has also reached the senior SP leaders here.

SP Moradabad district unit president Feroz Khan said the issue was tarnishing the image of the party.

“We have apprised the senior leaders about the matter,” he said.
