Wyndham plans 'Grand' hotel in B'lore

 US-based hospitality major Wyndham Hotel Group on Friday announced plans to open a Wyndham Grand hotel in Bangalore by 2020, as part of its plans to increase its footprint in India.

The chain has signed a franchisee agreement with Sammy’s Dreamland for the purpose, and the 180-key property will be located in Yelahanka, according to Wyndham Hotel Group Regional President (Indian Ocean) Deepika Arora.

Wyndham has been undertaking an impressive expansion drive over the last few years. “In the last two years, we have doubled our property presence here, opening 17 operational hotels, taking the total room number to 1,800,” Arora said.

“Currently, we have 29 additional properties under construction, which will take our total room tally to 3,000. In the next five years, we aim to open more properties taking our total number of hotels in the country to 70, with 8,000 rooms under the Ramada, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, Dream and Days Inn brands,” Arora added.

The chain plans to tap Tier-II cities, besides the metros. Wyndham, which boasts of more than 7,000 hotels across 15 brands in 66 countries worldwide, is unique in its franchise-driven expansion strategy.
