Senior advocates to address CJI

Special general body convened on Wednesday to discuss the issue

Former Advocate Generals R N Narasimha Murthy and B V Acharya, senior advocates Nanjunda Reddy and Pramila Nesargi will urge the Chief Justice of India to Chief Justice Dinakaran not to preside over court proceedings until the Supreme Court collegium arrives at a decision over allegations levelled against Justice Dinakaran.

The letter will be sent on Tuesday through the Advocates Association. An earlier decision of the advocates to conduct a signature campaign has been abandoned in favour of a direct letter to the Chief Justice of India. A special generalbody meeting is also being held on Wednesday by the Advocates Association to discuss the issue.

Metro case transferred

 The division bench headed by Chief Justice P D Dinakaran on Monday referred a case related to Metro construction near Vidhana Soudha to another bench.

Advocate M G Kumar had questioned the High Court according permission to continue with Metro works despite the a PIL pending in the court. Stating that the matter was of great concern and should be handled by someone better acquainted with the High Court and Minsk Square area, the Chief Justice transferred the case to a division bench headed by Justice V Gopalagowda.
