'Intellectual growth alone is insufficient'


Speaking on ‘The Communal Harmony - Role of Intellectuals’ at the All India Conference of Intellectuals on Monday, he said that mere intellectual growth was insufficient in the absence of compassion.

He expressed his dismay,  that no women figured in the list of 15 individuals who were honoured at the event.  High Commissioner of Mauritius in India, Mookesswur Choonee said that the Indians who had migrated to Mauritius had made tremendous progress.

The event also honoured 15 people from various fields.

They are Justice K Sreedhara Rao, Justice H Billappa, Chairman of the Legislative Council, Veeranna Mathikatti, MLA Dr G Parameshwara, BBMP Commissioner Bharat Lal Meena, City Police Commissioner Shankar Bidari, Director General of Forests and Special Secretary, Ministry of Environment & Forests, Dilip Kumar, Social activist K S Shankar, President of the Mahatma Gandhi Association for the Blind, Dayanand, cine actor Puneeth Rajkumar, former Vice President of Mico, S S A Rizvi, writer Chidanand Murthy, Founder of Vivekananda Kala Kendra V Nagaraj, agriculturist S Trinada Reddy and President of Nitte Education Trust N Vinay Hedge.
