Ishant confident of India's chances

Terming that England’s batting wasn’t the greatest threat to them, Ishant Sharma said if one bowls in the right areas no batsman can be a threat.

“I don't think we have to change anything,” said Ishant after bagging the man of the match award for his 3/33 in the second Champions Trophy semifinal against Sri Lanka here on Thursday. “We'll stick to what we have been doing before and do the same thing in the final as well. If you bowl in good areas no batsman can be a threat; that's what I want to do in the final as well,” he reasoned.

The paceman maintained he has been in good rhythm since IPL 6. “I've been bowling very well. In the IPL also I bowled with good rhythm so I was really confident. I'm carrying that momentum into Champions Trophy as well.”

Lankan skipper Angelo Mathews said he was disappointed with his team’s exit. “We can’t be happy (reaching just semifinals). We’re definitely disappointed (with not winning any title despite entering so many finals of ICC tournaments). The entire nation is disappointed but at the same time it shows we are doing well. (Here also) Our objective was to enter the final but credit to entire team for the way it lifted after the (loss in the) New Zealand game,” he remarked.

There were two raids by fans, suspected to be protesting against alleged atrocities on Sri Lankan Tamils. Towards the end of India’s innings, one spectator ran in to the middle but he was wrestled down by the security personnel. During India’s chase half a dozen of them invaded the ground and even ran on to the pitch before they were dragged off the field. One of them even came dangerously close to Lankan opener Kusal Perara.
“I am not really bothered (by these protests),” said Mathews when asked about incursions.
