Seven held for theft; property worth Rs 48.5 lakh recovered

The arrest of seven men, allegedly involved in a series of thefts across several parts of the City, has led to recovery of property worth Rs 48.5 lakh, comprising 1.2 kg gold ornaments, 2.5 kg of silver articles, car and six two-wheelers.

The East Division police claimed that with these arrests, they have solved 20 cases that included 10 house burglaries, eight two-wheeler theft cases, and a kidnapping case.
Commercial Street police have arrested Imran Khan alias Chor Imran, 22, Amir Khan, 22 and Rizwan Beig, 24, – all allegedly involved in seven house thefts in Commercial Street, KR Puram, Vijayanagar, KG Nagar, Hanumanthanagar and Chamarajapet.

Indiranagar police have arrested Pilkal Nazeer, 51, in connection with a mobile and car theft in the City. The police have confiscated the stolen materials.

Ramamurthy Nagar police have arrested Parvathi, 38, from Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu, for the alleged theft of gold ornaments from the house of Grace Senai in February this year. Parvathi, working as a domestic maid in the house of Senai, had decamped with gold ornaments worth Rs two lakh. KR Puram police have arrested an alleged two-wheeler lifter – Shankar, 35, and recovered 6 two-wheelers worth Rs 1.5 lakh.

Pulikeshi Nagar police have cracked the recent case of robbery and abduction leading to the arrest of Mohammed Umar Sharief, 26.

They waylaid Mohammed Fardeen, a resident of Williams Town, on June 14 night, abducted him, and forcefully took his signatures on two blank cheques. Then they took him to a nearby ATM,  forcing him to draw Rs 20,000. He was then blindfolded and taken to the outskirts of Ramanagar and pushed out. Efforts are on to nab the other two who were part of the gang.

Held for murder

The South Division police arrested seven men on Thursday night near Rajarajeshwari Hospital, Mysore Road, in connection with the recent murder of a 22-year-old mechanic, in Hanumanthanagar.

The arrested are Pradeep alias Pradee, 26 , M Manjunath alias Garage, 23, K Ajay Kumar alias Dadiya alias Gaja, 24, Manjunath alias Ittamadagu Manja, 22, Shivaraj alias Shiva, 19, Deepu alias Garage Deepu, 23, and Ganesh alias Gani, 19.

 The police seized three autorickshaws, three knives and two iron rods from the suspects.

The victim, Vinay, had taken away Pradeep’s scooter without his permission and returned very late on Sunday evening, the police said. Vinay and Pradeep had a fight over the issue. On Thursday, Pradeep and his six friends, all armed with lethal weapons, came in three autorickshaws and spotted Vinay near a hotel in Muneshwara Block, chased him for some distance and hacked him to death, the police added.

Vinay’s associate Kulla was also injured in the attack, they said.
