Addressing the gathering after receiving the guard of honour at the 53rd Kannada Rajyothsava celebrations held at the Ajjarkadu district stadium here, Hemalatha said that the schemes introduced by the State government are being implemented in the district in an effective manner.
Large number of beneficiaries have already availed the benefits of ‘Sandhya Suraksha Yojane’ and ‘Madilu Yojane,’ she added.

“Rapid industrialisation and the phenomena of farmers shifting towards commercials crops had its dire impact on the conventional agriculture in the district. Scientific cultivation should be introduced at this juncture to rejuvenate the traditional agriculture,” she said and called upon progressive farmers to take part in the development process.

She said that the government is giving equal importance to the education. The ‘Madhyamikha Shiksha Abhiyan’ of the government assures quality education to all children, she added.
Elaborate plans have been chalked out to make Udupi as one of the hi-tech city and proposals will be executed at the earliest. Road widening process has been taken up, she said and added that circles will be built at all junctions.

Health and sanitation is another diversified area which was given much importance in the development process. Solid waste management campaign is being organised in the CMC limits and the wastes are collected methodically. The same procedure will also be adopted in other parts of the district, she explained.

The district has contributed Rs 76,15,216 towards the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, besides groceries and clothes, she informed.

The celebrations were a low key affair owing to the recent flood havoc of North Karnataka region.
Superintendent of Police Prawin Pawar, Zilla Panchaya President Gladys Alameda, Udupi Urban Development Authority President Sudhakar Shetty, APMC President Udyavar and others were present.
