On the threshold of professional life

In this era of ever-increasing competition, one has to be equipped with multiple skills. This is the case in any field. Students of Vogue Institute of Fashion Technology, who had their campus placement recently, strove to showcase their talent in the best way possible.

Before the actual placement, an orientation was held by the faculty members to prepare the students for interviews. Over 70 students took part in it. This was done across three sub-areas — designing, merchandising and retailing. The companies which came to hire the students included Shoppers Stop, Raymonds, Wills Lifestyle, Tommy Hilfiger etc.  On the day of the placement, the students were segregated on the basis of their interest. Depending on what job profiles they were looking for, they were asked to fill in application forms, based on which the companies short-listed potential candidates looking at specific qualifications.

Those candidates were then accepted for the group discussion and the final interview.
“It was my first professional interview. The interviewer made me feel comfortable. I came to know more about myself and what I wish to do in my career through it,” says Madhura, a BSc fashion designing student. Manisha, an MBA student, attended the interviews hoping to get into the merchandising companies. “The questions asked were interesting. After the interviews, they explained the job profiles and told me how I should work and what teams I would be coordinating with if I got the job, which I found very informative,” she says. On the part of the college, the management explain that close to 50 students were placed in the first round.
