TCS denies Australia visa violations

Mumbai-based Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has denied a news report that it flouted Australian visa norms by overusing 457 visas.

In an interview to ABC news, a TCS employee who did not wish to be named, said that the company was flouting 457 visas by relying on foreign workers even in areas where there are no skill shortages in the Australia.

The 457 visa is for skilled workers from outside Australia who have been sponsored and nominated by a business to work in Australia on a temporary basis.

When contacted by Deccan Herald, TCS said in a statement, “Tata Consultancy Services has strict policies and procedures in place that ensure complete compliance in visa usage in Australia and all other markets where it operates. To imply that it misused visa regulations in any manner is completely false and inaccurate.”

The company added that it is firmly committed to the Australian market and looks to bring its global expertise, innovation and capabilities to our Australian customers to support their business needs. We ensure that this is done in a manner that is fully compliant with all legal requirements.

Recently, an Australian government audit also concluded that we are fully compliant with all legal requirements regarding visas, TCS said.
