JOIN USIncreased vigilance by the police following a string of ATM heists in the City has led to the prevention of another such theft in the nick of time.
On Saturday night, two constables from the RMC Yard police station discovered an ATM kiosk of Corporation Bank with its shutters closed. The constables, aware it was supposed to remain open, alerted senior officers who rushed to the location.
Police opened the shutter to discover a man armed with a gas cutter attempting to gain access to the ATM cash box. He was immediately arrested and has been identified as Om Namashivaya, 38, a native of Tamil Nadu.
Namashivaya had attempted to break into an ATM at Malathalli in the Jnanabharathi police limits four days ago.
“He had also attempted a break-in at an ATM in Basaveshwara Nagar,” police said. However, none of his attempts was successful.
