Celebrating World Music Day

Music is in the air’ and so is everybody who is celebrating World Music Day all over the world including India. Fête de la Musique or World Music Day which originated in France has captured the attention of all music lovers and have brought them together to celebrate the language of love and peace – music.

To mark this day, SoundTree recently celebrated World Music Day with Indie music legends at Striker Pub. The power-packed confluence of legendary Indian musicians took the stage on fire and entertained the music lovers.

On the overwhelming response to the event, Prithwish Dev, vocalist, Them Clones said, “I surely can’t speak for the country, but I guess, as a musician, World Music Day means that you have a dedicated day to celebrate what you love so much. It also means you’re conscious and thankful that you have music in your life.”

Originally a French festival, Fete de la Musique was presented to Delhi audience like never before. Over 40 renowned musicians, including Rahul Ram, Amit Kilam, Himanshu Joshi, Ashwani Verma, Christopher Powell, Dilip Ramachandran, Joshua Grant and Chintan Kalra from some of India’s most distinguished bands like Indian Ocean, Mrigya, Bandish, Euphoria, Them Clones, Vishnu, Advaita etc., swayed the audience away jamming on stage together. The audience enjoyed their evening to the fullest as the musician’s performed each other’s hit singles.

Expressing his delight on the conclusion of the event, Ashutosh Bhattacharya, CEO, Sound Tree Media, said, “World Music Day is a global phenomenon and hasn’t seen such powerful collaborations among Indian independent musicians before. The idea behind this event was a celebration of independent music and to bring together multiple genres as music today has no language or genre. We are delighted by the response as the event was a huge success which drew many Indie music loyalists and new fans alike.”
