BJP leaders to meet today on BSY return

Last Updated 26 June 2013, 19:01 IST

A section of BJP leaders led by former chief minister D V Sadananda Gowda, who want B S Yeddyurappa back into the party fold, will meet BJP State President Pralhad Joshi in Bangalore, on Thursday to present its point of view.

Gowda is likely to be accompanied by former speaker K G Bopaiah, former ministers Aravind Limbavali, Umesh Katti, Basavaraj Bommai and MLC G Madhusudan. These leaders had met at party MP D B Chandre Gowda’s residence last week to discuss their plan of action to bring Yeddyurappa back to the party fold.

This group believes that the return of Yeddyurappa and subsequent merger of the KJP with the BJP would boost the party’s prospects in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. The KJP had managed to secure 10 per cent of the votes in the Assembly polls within six months after being launched, they point out.

It is learnt that Sadananda Gowda called up Joshi recently and briefed him about the group’s point of view following which the latter invited them for the discussion. The group is also planning to call on the party’s Central leaders in New Delhi soon.
