Roads waterlogged as rain lashes City

Bangalore City received scattered rainfall which brought down the temperature by seven degree Celsius on Wednesday evening.

According to the Meteorological department, the City received 14.7 mm of rainfall while the HAL Old Airport area received 30.6 mm rainfall. The temperature recorded a maximum of 27.8 degree Celsius on Wednesday, which came down to 20.8 degree Celsius following the showers.

According to the recordings by the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre, Bangalore North received a maximum rainfall of 31.5 mm, followed by Bangalore South, which recorded a rainfall of 29.5 mm.

Bangalore East received a fairly widespread rainfall of 23.5 mm rainfall and Tavarekere received 15.5 mm.

Parts of Cottonpet, RR Nagar, Jnanabharathi, BTM Layout, Kengeri, Shivanagar, Sarjapura, Uttarahalli, Nagapura and Begur received scanty rainfall. Waterlogging and tree falls hampered vehicular movement on key arterial roads, including Kasturba Road and Old Airport Road.

There was waterlogging below the railway bridge near Binny Mills on Magadi Road and below the Seshadripuram railway bridge, throwing traffic out of gear. Water stagnated near the Command Hospital on Old Airport Road, hampering vehicular movement for some time. Trees were uprooted at Girinagar 1st Stage, Indiranagar and near Madhavan Park in Jayanagar.
