The State Cabinet on Thursday, came to the rescue of two students who were injured in the bomb blast near BJP headquarters in Bangalore (in April this year), by deciding to provide them admission to engineering colleges — in addition to giving them Rs one lakh each for their studies.

Briefing reporters after the meeting, Law Minister T B Jayachandra said the government has already reimbursed the medical bills of the two victims — Rakshita Sujay and N S Leesha.

Rakshitha and Leesha, who had suffered injuries in the April 17 blast, were hospitalised for several days. Jayachandra said while Rakshita can select the engineering seat immediately, Leesha can do so after clearing her second year pre-university examination.

Leesha who is set to appear for the supplementary Mathematics exam on July 3, said the government needs to do more.

“They are offering us this amount after so many months. The amount my parents spent on travelling and missing work just to be with me in the hospital is more than one lakh.

Also, my life won’t change with such an amount of money,” she said. “The government should provide me with more help than just a seat in an engineering college and money.”
