Mobile phone connection given to all the high school teachers in the state under Rashtriya Madhyamika Shiksha Abhiyan has been suspended four months ago.

However, to the surprise of the teachers, Rs 1,050 has been collected as advance for six months under RMSA fund.

Mobile phone connection was given to all the head teachers in the month of January. The phone connection was used in January and February. The phone connection was suspended in the month of March. Is it right to collect advance for seven months when the phone services were suspended within two months, said a teacher on condition of anonymity.

There are 47 government high schools in the district. Rashtriya Madhyamika Shiksha Abhiyan has been implemented in all the schools and mobile SIM was given to all the head teachers. In the RMSA fund given to all the schools, the authorities have collected advance for mobile bill.

To provide high school education to all the children, the Central government had initiated RMSA in 2009. To provide basic facilities in all the high schools, about Rs 75,000 is given to the schools. With the fund, work on constructing classrooms, repair work, library, construction of toilets and drinking water facilities can be provided.

The government had provided SIM card to the teachers to help parents to interact with the teachers on the progress of their wards.

As only SIM was given to each school, even with the transfer of the head teachers, the mobile number used to remain the same. Owing to the negligence of the government, the mobile phone connection has been suspended, said a head teacher.
