Furious over his only son’s death allegedly caused by the mother, a man in Uttar Pradesh’s Agra district shot dead his wife.

The incident occurred at Patsal village in the district on Saturday evening.

According to police sources here, the alleged culprit Mukesh Pujair’s wife Sunita Devi had gone to pay obeisance at a temple nearby. Her seven-year-old son Sourabh also followed her.

The child stopped near a deep ditch which was on the way and started playing there. He accidently fell into it and began to drown. Sunita shouted for help and he was brought out with the help of the locals.

The boy was taken to a hospital but was declared brought dead, sources said.
When Sunita returned home with her son’s body, she found Mukesh at home and narrated the incident. A furious Mukesh blamed her for his son’s death and opened fire at her with a country-made pistol.

The bullet hit his wife in the head, killing her on the spot, sources said. “She should not have allowed Sourabh to accompany her and if he followed her, she should have taken care of him,” he told his parents later.

He also tried to kill his parents when they tried to intervene. He escaped after perpetrating the crime.

The accused’s parents, however, refused to register a case against their own son saying that they did not want to lose him too. “I have already lost my daughter-in-law and grandson. I do not want to lose my son now ,” Mukesh’s father Chakkan said. Mukesh has two daughters.

Police, however, registered a case against him and launched a manhunt to nab him.
