Clean Sports India has welcomed the ouster of Suresh Kalmadi from the Asian Athletics Association president’s post, terming it as a victory of sports.

“Mission accomplished,” said CSI president and former international Ashwini Nachappa, reacting to the news of Kalmadi’s defeat to Qatar’s Dahlan Al Hamad here on Monday.
“It is a process and it will continue. It should be a lesson for everyone that what goes around comes around,” said Ashwini.

“Now the fight is on for a sports legislation, not just limited to the top level but right till the bottom,” she said.

Ashwini said it was shameful that the Athletics Federation of India, headed by former sprinter Adille Sumariwala, had chosen to back Kalmadi.
