Chitra bags bronze

Karnataka’s Chitra Magimairaj clinched the 6-red snooker bronze medal in the Asian Indoor Games at Incheon, South Korea.

Chitra, making her third appearance in the continental bash, went down 1-4 (1-42, 22-48, 34-33, 8-39, 2-43) to Hong Kong’s Ng On Yee in the semifinal clash. With no third-place match, Chitra and Thailand’s Ip Wan In Jaique -- the other beaten semifinalist -- were awarded a bronze each.

Meanwhile, the team of Aditya Mehta, Brijesh Damani and Kamal Chawla bagged the Team
Snooker silver after going down 2-3 to China’s Liang Wenbo and Ding Junhui.

After losing the opening two singles contest, the Indians hit back when Brijesh and Aditya won the doubles encounter against Ding and Tian Pengfei. Aditya then defeated Liang to level the scores 2-2 before Ding defeated Brijesh in the final tie as China ran away with the gold.
