Robbers strike three homes, steal khakis

Six armed youths allegedly held three families in Loni area here hostage at gunpoint and robbed them of cash and valuables after assaulting them.

A uniform belonging to a Delhi police constable was also taken away by the robbers in one of the three incidents in Jawali village late Tuesday night, police said.

The condition of two victims was stated to be critical. Six persons, armed with pistols, wooden stick and iron rods barged inside Jai Singh residence in Jawali and held his family hostage, they said.

Jai Singh’s nephew Praveen said, “When my uncle and his wife Pinki tried to resist, the robbers brutally attacked them.”

Singh suffered a fracture in his hand and recieved 125 stitches on head, he said.Pinki's left eye was damaged and she got 80 stitches on her head, Praveen said, adding that both were admitted to a private hospital where their condition was stated as critical. Robbers fled from Singh’s house with Rs 40,000 and other valuables, police said. Then, the assilants scaled the wall of a house in the same village and attacked the family members, they said.

Mukesh, his wife Hitesh and newphew Rahul were held captivev at gun point for nearly 30 minutes. Robbers brutally snatched Hitesh’s gold earrings and fled away, causing serious injuries to his ear, police said.

Soon after, the armed persons attacked the house of Delhi police constable, Anup Upadhaya. The accused fled from the spot with Upadhya’s uniform, police said.

“Prima facie it appears that the robbery was committed by memebrs of notorious Bawaria gang. A search has been launched to arrest the accused,” a senior police officer said. On July 1, a 40-year-old property dealer and his family were allegedly held hostage at gunpoint and robbed of cash and valuables worth Rs 18 lakh by six armed persons in Sahibabad area of the district.
