MLA to submit proposal on roads in Maoist-infested villages

MLA B B Ningaiah has said that there was allegations on poor quality of work being implemented in Maoist-infested villages in Mudigere constituency. The district-in-Charge Minister will be urged to initiate action against erring contractors for implementing poor quality of work.

Speaking to mediapersons on Monday, he said “I will convene a meeting in the Moist-infested areas and will collect opinion from villagers on the ongoing work.”
A proposal to develop roads connecting 79 villages under Naxal package will be submitted to the government.

On seizure of illegally stored sand in Mudigere, he said “I had raised the issue of illegal sand mining in the Assembly. The Minister had promised to announce new sand policy within three months. The seized sand has been kept outside the guest house. The sand will be sold at the competitive price for the construction of government buildings,” he said.

Rain damage

The MLA has said that property worth  Rs 8.66 crore is damaged in Mudigere constituency. The government will be urged to release funds to take up relief work.
Road, drains, bridges and houses have been damaged in four hoblis of Chikmagalur taluk.

List of 211 works have been prepared. The loss incurred in damage to state highways has been estimated at Rs 60 lakh. About 34 district roads have been damaged, incurring a loss of Rs 13 lakh. Atleast 16 houses have been damaged. Loss incurred in four hoblis of Chikmagalur taluk is estimated at Rs 4.25 crore. About 41 work list have been prepared. The estimated loss in damage to drains and bridges is Rs 20 lakh.

River bank

A proposal of Rs 47.65 crore has been submitted to the government on the protection of Hemavathi river bank. The government had given administrative approval to the proposal. The Central government will share 75 per cent of the total project cost. As per the project retaining wall will be constructed at Halike, Horatti in Mudigere and also in Hassan district.

The MLA said that a proposal of Rs 22.40 crore for the laying of eight major roads and four bridges will be submitted to the government. The proposal will include Malgodu bridge on Gangamoola-Kottigehara road, bridge at Javali on Horanadu-Baloor, Sunkasale-Marasanife road, Bellur-Kogile road, Malalli-Kogodu, Nandipura-Indravalli, Sunkasale-Marasanige, Haluvalli roads. A proposal to develop Shishila road was submitted last year.
