Waiting to work together

Telugu actor Venkatesh Daggubati, who was recently seen bonding with Salman Khan, reportedly wants to work with the Bollywood star in a Hindi film soon. While Venkatesh has been shooting for the Telugu remake of Bol Bachchan in Hyderabad, Salman is busy shooting for ‘Mental’ in the city.

“Salman and Venkatesh have been shooting in and around the same locality. They have been having a great time bonding and since both have known each other for many years, Venkatesh is keen to work with Salman, but is not sure when it is likely to happen,” a close source to Venkatesh says.

“Nothing has been confirmed yet, but talks are definitely on for a project in the
future,” the source adds. Venkatesh has previously starred in Hindi films like Anari and Taqdeerwala.    After his last release, ‘Shadow’, bombed at the box-office, he has pinned all hopes on the Bol Bachchan remake, which is tentatively titled Golmaal. K Vijay Bhaskar is directing the romantic-comedy that also stars Anjali, Ram and
Shazahn Padamsee. Salman, on the other hand, is busy wrapping up ‘Mental’, a Hindi remake of Chiranjeevi starrer Telugu action-drama ‘Stalin’.

In a fabulous and fit avatar

Southern actress Anushka Shetty, who is busy
shooting for the upcoming Telugu period-drama Rudhramadevi, seems to be going the Kareena Kapoor way — she is expected to shed as much as 15 kilograms for her role in the film.
A source from the film’s unit reveals that the actress
is going to go through a gruelling diet plan to get fit and fabulous for the role.
“She (Anushka) has been advised to shed at least 10 to 15 kilograms for the film.
In the next two months, she will undergo a strict weight regimen to perfect the look for the film,” the source says.
Anushka, however, will not lose too much of weight — she is determined to ensure that she slims down in a controlled fashion.
   “She has another period flick lined up. It is important that the weight loss is under control. To ensure that she stays in shape, she will spend more time on yoga than on physical workout,” the source adds.
Rudhramadevi is being
directed and produced by
Gunasekhar, and Anushka will essay the role of Rani Rudhramadevi of the Kakatiya dynasty.
The film features an
ensemble cast of Rana Daggubati, Aditi Chengappa, Vikramjeet Virk, Nathalia Kaur, Hamsa Nandhini, Prakash Raj, Baba Sehegal, Krishnam Raju, Ahuti Prasad, Jayaprakash Reddy and Adithya Menon.
Illayaraja will compose the music for the film, which will have cinematography by Ajay Vincent.
Meanwhile, Anushka will soon start working on
Telugu period-drama Baahubali with film-maker SS
Rajamouli.

A stroke of luck

Slumdog Millionaire’ airs on Sony Pix at 6.30 pm on July 10. The film is about Jamal Mallik (played by Dev Patel).  This teenager has lived a tough life, stooping to crime to feed himself and using his quick wits to get out of delicate situations.

He happens to enter a reality show called ‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire’, and by some stroke of luck answers all of the questions right up to the final —
which will win him Rs 20 million. However, the police are sure that Jamal is somehow cheating. Catch the film to find out what happens next.

It also stars Anil Kapoor, Saurabh Shukla, Freida Pinto, Irrfan Khan, Mahesh Manjrekar, Rubina Ali, Azharuddin Ismail and Tanay Chheda.

Strange notions of help

In ‘The Day the Earth Stood Still’, Helen is one of the scientists who are invited to a military facility when an alien spacecraft comes to New York.  On board the craft is Klaatu, an alien who looks very much human and a giant robot that is extremely powerful. Klaatu insists that he has come to save the earth. When the political authorities decide to do away with him, Helen does her best to help him escape. But that is before she finds out what Klaatu means by saving the earth. The movie stars Keanu Reeves, Jennifer Connelly, Kathy Bates, Jon Hamm and John Cleese.

Everything a girl wants

Watch ‘The Boyfriend School’ on MGM at 5.45 pm on July 10. This is a romantic comedy about a cancer patient who can’t get back into dating after his
recovery, since it has left him with no hair and a bloated face. His sister comes to his aid and turns him into the type of man the girl of his dreams would want. The film stars Shelley Long, Steve Guttenberg, Jami Gertz, Kyle MacLachlan and Madchen Amick.
