IFIM Business School recently had the company of visiting students from
the executive MBA batch of ESC Rennes School of Business in France.

As part of their international study tour, they spent five days at IFIM, which included sessions with senior IFIM faculty and industry visits to Biocon, Titan and Infosys. Metrolife speaks to some of the students about their experiences.

On the differences between education in India and France, Paola Escobar says, “Though the education system in both the countries is really good,
I feel that in India, the professors spend a lot more time
interacting with students and share a personal rapport with them. There are also a lot more extracurricular activities for students here.”

In the entire curriculum, it was the industry visits that impressed Paola most. “The
visits were insightful as we got an idea of the way Indian companies work. It was an enriching experience to see their mission and goals, growth charts and their plans for attaining global presence,” she shares.

She confesses that Bangalore felt like home and found the people to be warm and friendly. “The quality of life is very good. We got to taste different cuisines and even though some of the food was spicy for us, it was delicious. Everyone was curious about our lives and culture back in France,” she says.

Xavier Migaud says that the study tour helped in enhancing his knowledge in regard to his course. “We have got clarity on the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategies that the companies here follow. We also learnt how CSR can be used as a business strategy. The other topics we learnt were on cross-cultural management and the Indian marketplace,” he notes.

Comparing the classroom experiences, he says, “It enabled us to gain a wider
perspective. We gained an insight into the Indian market and since our course in France teaches us about global markets, it was beneficial to experience it firsthand here.”

The City has created a sense of belonging in many of the student’s minds and they say they would like to return soon. “Bangalore is a city which is fast growing with all the latest technology. I’m fascinated by the history and culture of the place. India, as a whole, has a lot to offer and I’m glad that I got to experience a bit of it on this trip. I will definitely return to tour the rest of the country,” says Franck Zal, one of the visiting students.
