Newlywed woman found dead

Two people were found dead in separate incidents in the City since Monday night.

A newlywed woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself at her house in Govindaraj Nagar on Monday evening. Sana, 20, was the daughter of Abdul Razaq, a resident of Gandhi Chowk in Gulbarga.

Sana was married to Zameer Ahmed, 29, a software engineer employed with a private firm in JP Nagar, on April 22.

Police sources said Zameer had rented a house in Govindaraj Nagar 15 days ago and had brought his wife to the City from Gulbarga.

Zameer told the police that on Sunday they had an argument over a petty issue. He said Sana wanted to spend the month of Ramadan at her parent’s house in Gulbarga.

However, when he offered to take her next month for the festival, she was upset. On Monday morning, Zameer left for work. However, when he returned home in the evening, he found the house latched. When Sana did not respond to his calls, he broke open the door and found her hanging from the ceiling fan in the bedroom. Though she was immediately rushed to a nearby private hospital, she was declared brought dead.

Vijayanagar police have registered a case of unnatural death. Police said Sana’s father Razaq had stated before the tahsildar that neither his son-in-law nor his family had either harassed his daughter or demanded dowry.

In another case, a middle-aged man, allegedly suffering from a terminal disease, hanged himself at his house in Lakshmipura, Ulsoor, on Monday night.

Kiran, a native of Madikeri, was found hanging from the railings of a building staircase. The incident came to light early Tuesday morning when the residents discovered the body. Kiran was working with a private firm in the City.

Homeless woman dead

A woman was found dead below the Metro flyover near Anjan Theatre on Magadi Road on Tuesday morning. The residents of the area discovered the body and informed police.

Some shopkeepers identified the woman as Lakshmi, 50, who did odd jobs in the area during the day and slept below the Metro flyover at night.

Body found on tracks

The body of an unidentified youth was found on the railway tracks between Hejjala and Bidadi in Ramanagara district on Tuesday morning.

Police said the youth, in his late 20’s, was probably crossing the tracks when he was mowed down by a speeding train on Monday night.

A senior railway police official ruled out suicide.
