Houses damaged in heavy rains in Kodagu

A few houses were damaged at  Hoskote village in Somwarpet taluk and Chembu village in Sampaje hobli of Madikeri taluk as several parts of Kodagu district received good rainfall on Tuesday.

The inflow of water into Cauvery river in the district increased following good rainfall at Madikeri, Talacauvery-Bhagamandala, Napoklu, Shanivarasanthe, Kodlipet and other catchment areas.
Farm activities

This apart, good rainfall spurred agricultural activities. Paddy is grown in 35,000 acres in Kodagu district and with the rains setting in farmers were seen busy preparing the land.

The Harangi reservoir is almost full to the brim with inflow of 7,020 cusecs, up from 768 cusecs during the corresponding period last year.

 The outflow of water was 3,950 cusecs from the reservoir.

Coastal areas

Dakshina Kannada district received an average of 15.3 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours.
Though rainfall has receded, the sky remained overcast the whole day.

In north Karnataka, rainfall has almost receded. There were just outbreaks of drizzle in Dharwad, Belgaum and Uttara Kannada districts.

There were traces of rain in the coastal parts of Uttara Kannada district.
 Rain also receded in Malnad and semi-arid regions. But no river was in spate.
