High ambitions, big expectations, lessons in love, competition from every corner, parental pressure and unsure of where the world will take you — is all that happens at the right age or may be the wrong age of Sixteen.

The movie is based on real-life events that all of us must have come across at one point or the other, but at the same age. However, no one knows how to solve these problems or accept the reality. Blame it on the age, hormones or may be the fast-thinking generation.

Sixteen revolves around four characters — three girls (Nidhi, Tanisha and Anu) — and a boy (Ashwin). All of them are powered by different ambitions but plagued by various problems in life. And parental and peer pressure seems to be at the core of their troubles.

All the actors have done justice to their characters. Debutant director Raj Purohit, too, has done a commendable job. Shot in Delhi, the movie offers a fresh perspective on how teenagers try to gel with people around. It’s an age filled with excitement, entertainment, heartbreak and misunderstanding, but it also teaches you lessons for life.

Sixteen doesn’t promise to entertain you with a song-and-dance drill, but it falls into that particular category of movies that fare well without it too. If you are looking for a message-oriented film, this one won’t disappoint you.
