Beneficiaries to get taxis under tribal project

Interview to select the beneficiaries under SC/ST special tribal project was held at the office of Deputy Director of Tourism, at Dasara Exhibition Grounds, here on Monday.

As many as 51 taxi’s will be distributed to beneficiaries from SC/ST communities, under the programme in the district.

Deputy Director of Tourism’s office has received a total of 149 applications under the programme.

50 pc cost

Under the programme, 50 per cent of the cost of a cab will be provided by the government, while 45 per cent of the cost will be lent by banks as subsidised loan.

Remaining five per cent of the amount of a cab will have to be borne by the beneficiary of the scheme.

Beneficiaries who are selected under the programme will be distributed cabs within two months.

Deputy Commissioner Ramegowda, ADC Naga Nayak and officials from the department of tourism conducted the interview.

Ramegowda has warned cancellation of licences, if any fair price shops are found charging more than Re one per kg of rice, under Anna Bhagya scheme. Legal action will also be pursued against erring  fair price shops.
