Maoists threaten police informers

Last Updated 16 July 2013, 19:19 IST

Maoists have reportedly sent a threat letter to the police informers, as whether they want to live with the people or die by joining hands with the police.

The letter in the name of Malnadu Area Samithi Matthu Karavali Area Samithi, targetting informers has reached Deccan Herald office.

The letter said, “the revolutionary movement can not be carried forward without punishing those involved in murdering revolutionaries. Death is natural. It is left to the informers to decide whether they have to die by helping the people or by helping the police.”

“Maoist movement began in Malnad and coastal districts 10 years ago. However, Guerilla army’s 13 colleagues and Menasinahadya residents Paramesh, Rame Gowda, Sundaresh and Kaverakka were murdered by the police. Resources and culture in the district could be conserved only through Maoist movement. If we had not started our movement, the government would have evicted all the forest dwellers from the Kudremukh National Park.

The people of the region have been showering love towards us for safeguarding their lives.

However, the informers who were lured by the police have been responsible for murdering innocents. The police have been spending lakhs of rupees to create police informers,” it said.

Tribals and farmers have been residing in remote villages without basic facilities and infrastructure. However, the estate owners and rich were exploiting the poor and becoming more wealthier.

With the Maoist movement in the district, the exploitation has reduced to some extent.

The government’s decision on forcible eviction has come to a standstill. Reforms have been introduced in the name of Naxal package in Maoist infested villages. The police and the government have been nurturing informers to implement Project Tiger and Pushpagiri sanctuary in Western Ghats, the letter said.

“If the informers continue to support the rulers, then we will not allow them to enter the villages. We will boycott you and will be severely punished in the People’s Court.”
