Last Updated 16 July 2013, 21:01 IST

Political polarisation seems to be gaining momentum in the State with indications that it would be a combined opposition that would take on the Congress in the Lok Sabha polls.

While the BJP, the KJP and the BSR Congress have been coming closer by the day, the JD(S) is also understood to be keen on entering into an electoral alliance ahead of the polls. It is said former prime minister and JD(S) national president H D Deve Gowda has already held two round of talks with former chief minister and KJP president B S Yeddyurappa on the possibility of an electoral alliance.

Gowda is scheduled to hold a press conference on Wednesday regarding the Lok Sabha elections.

According to sources in the JD(S), the two leaders are likely to hold one more round of talks in the coming days.

BSY sets conditions

While Yeddyurappa has set conditions for merger of he KJP with BJP, he has already openly indicated that he is open for an electoral alliance with the BJP.

Several KJP members are said to have demanded that the party retain its identity and go for an electoral alliance with the BJP.

BSR Congress president B Sriramulu, however, has ruled out merger of his party with any other political outfit, but said on Tuesday he was open for an electoral alliance with the KJP and JD(S).

JD(S) State president and former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy is also said to be keen on an electoral alliance with the BJP, as it could help trounce the Congress in the Lok Sabha elections.
