“I have been fatally attacked a couple of times because I have been creating awareness against drug abuse and consumption of alcohol,” said India-based socio-spiritual organisation Dera Sacha Sauda head Gurmeeth Ram Rahim Singh.

Delivering spiritual meditation at Kaveri hall in Madikeri on Wednesday, he said “drug mafia tried to kill me several times in the past. Hence, Haryana government has accorded Z plus security to me. The essence of Hinduism, Islam, Sikhism and Christianity is same. All preach love towards fellowbeing. No religions preach division among communities and hatredness. People from all communities should understand the fact on essence of religion to ward off terrorism in the name of religion.”

Election should not be contested on the basis on religion. Political parties should contest election on the issue of development work in the constituency. He called upon the people to develop self-confidence. A person can strengthen self confidence through meditation. Those who have will power will never resort to commit suicide. The evil of suicide is seen in all the families irrespective of caste and religion.

Singh said one can not please God with money. Meditation can help a person to please God.

“We pay money after pooja. The money is not for the God but for the priest. The God will not expect anything from the devotees,” he said.

“We visit temples believing that God resides in it by cleaning our leg. However, after coming out of the temple, we indulge in immoral activities. God is not found in temple. He is within us. We can not hide anything from him,” Singh added.

“All the religions show us the right path. When we understand the essence of religion, then there will be no rift between religion,” he added.

Gurmeeth Ram Rahim Singh spoke in Hindi and Sridhar Hegde translated to Kannada. The spiritual meditation will be held on Thursday between 4 pm to 6 pm.
