Delegation to Union govt on sea erosion

The State government has said that it will take a delegation to New Delhi to seek more funds for preventing sea erosion in coastal areas.

Replying to a question by Pratap Chandra Shetty (Cong) in the Legislative Council, Baburao Chinchansoor, Minister for Port and Inland Water Transport, said he will lead the delegation seeking permanent solution to sea erosion.

Other states way ahead

The announcement came following a suggestion by the Leader of the Opposition D V Sadananda Gowda. Gowda said that Karnataka was lagging behind in preventing sea erosion. “Our neighbouring states Kerala and Maharashtra are way ahead of us in checking erosion,” he said.
