Members of Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Pourakarmikas and Health Gangmen Union submitted a memorandum containing their demands to Mayor D Venkatesh Murthy and BBMP Commissioner M Lakshminarayana on Wednesday.
The union has requested them to immediately appoint the 4,000 pourakarmikas on a permanent basis.
“The State government had given permission to the Palike to appoint 4,000 pourakarmikas on a permanent basis, three years ago. But till date nothing has been done. We want the Palike authorities to recruit the contract pourakarmikas who have been working for more than 10 years,” said Narasimha, union president.
