Last Updated 19 July 2013, 03:21 IST

An argument is said to have ensued between Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Housing Minister M H Ambareesh soon after the State Cabinet meeting in Bangalore on Wednesday evening.

Siddaramaiah and Ambareesh were coming out of the Cabinet hall when the latter is understood to have raised the issue of shifting Bangalore Turf Club (Race Course).

Ambareesh is learnt to have told the chief minister that the government should reconsider shifting the club as hundreds of people were dependent on its activities.
Siddaramaiah told Ambareesh that the High Court had upheld the decision of the previous government to shift the club and it was not possible for the present dispensation to intervene.

‘No personal interest’

Irked by Siddaramaiah answer, sources said, Ambareesh told the chief minister that the club was not just a premises to place bets on races but provided livelihood to hundreds. Ambareesh reportedly told Siddaramaiah he was not raising the issue with any personal interest. If he wanted to place bets on races, he could do the same in Delhi or Mumbai Turf Club.

When Siddaramaiah did not relent, Ambareesh is said to have walked away in a huff.
