Delight for KGA's Rathor in Marbella

Last Updated 06 November 2009, 17:46 IST

The 41-year-old KGA captain had scores of 83, 69, 68 and 71 in the amateur tournament where every round was played in four different courses in Marbella from October 24-31.
“It feels really great to have won an international tournament.
“The format itself is so unique and having accomplished it, it feels good,” said a delighted Rathor.

The amateur-only tournament, patronised by golfing legend Arnold Palmer, saw participants from 34 nations contesting in strokeplay format over 72 holes and six different handicap categories. “The beauty of the tournament was playing on four different courses with each offering different types of challenges.

“There is no time for practice and you are at the mercy of strokesaver -- a golf course guide. While it did help a lot, I just opted to keep the ball in play and take it shot by shot. Thankfully, all went as planned,” added the former KGA Secretary.
